John's Obituary

U.S. Veteran  

John Leonard Pratt of Belton, Texas, passed away on February 8th, 2025, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital, Temple Texas at 80 years of age.

Graveside services will be held at 10am on Thursday, February 27th, 2025, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen Texas with full Military Honors.

John was born on January 4th, 1945, in Cohoctah, Michigan to Vernon Edward and Katherine Grace Leetch Pratt.

John Joined the Army in July of 1965. John was sent to Vietnam. Where he served as a door gunner on a Huey helicopter.  After Vietnam John was transferred to the Armored Division where he worked his way up to Tank Commander.  He was then selected for the Warrant Officer program, as a Warrant Officer he was then able to go to flight school and became a Huey Helicopter pilot. John retired with 22 years of service. John then went to work as a civil service employee.

John married Mary Ann Watkins Ross on September 6th, 1994, in Belton, Texas.

John is survived by his wife Mary Ann Pratt of Belton, sons; Richard Pratt & wife Scheree of Troy, Texas, John Pratt & wife Leslie of Troy Texas, and Terry Pratt of Troy, Texas, daughter Shellie Downing of Troy, Texas, Brother Fred Pratt & wife Elaine of Owasso, Michigan, sister Nancy Schofield of Farwell, Michigan, 15 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
